Calling a User

Quickly connect with your oVice-mates, wherever they are! Our Call feature alerts other Active users in the workspace, whether they're signed in from a desktop or on the oVice Go mobile app.

Start a Call with Online Teammates

We make it easy to start a quick chat with another online user:

  • Start a Call from the User List
  • Start a Call from the User's Avatar

From the User List

Open the User List pane by clicking the People Icon in the Top Horizontal Menu Bar. Under the Active user section, click to select a user, and choose the Call option from the menu.

From the User's Avatar

Click on an Active user's Avatar in the space, and choose the Call option from the options shown.

What the Caller will See & Hear

A Meeting Camera Object will automatically appear for you, and you will hear an audible ringtone.

If the target user is using oVice on a desktop, the user you are calling will hear an audible ringtone and see a notification they are being called. If they click to accept the call, their avatar will be moved within proximity to your own, and they'll be connected to the Meeting Camera Object. You'll then be able to have a voice and/or video chat.

It the target user is using oVice on their mobile device through the oVice Go app, their phone will ring. Is answered, their avatar will be moved within proximity to your own, and they'll be connected to the Meeting Camera Object. You'll then be able to have a voice and/or video chat.

You also have the option to cancel the call if the target user is not able to accept the call - simply click Cancel before the receiver answers the call.

What the Receiver will See & Hear

If using oVice from a desktop, an audible ringtone will sound, and a Notification will appear on your screen that you are being called by another Active User. You'll have the option to Accept the Call or Decline.  Click Accept, your Avatar will automatically be moved in proximity with the caller, and you'll be connected to the shared Meeting Camera Object. Click Decline, and the caller will receive a Call Declined notification.

If using from the oVice Go mobile app, your phone will ring. Answer the call, and you'll automatically be moved to the caller and connected to the Caller via the Meeting Camera Object. Decline the call, and the caller will receive a Call Declined notification.
